Our approach to starting horses involves establishing a solid foundation for the horse’s education to build from. It prioritizes clear communication, mutual understanding, and correct application & timing of reinforcement to build trust between the horse and their rider. By applying evidence-based practices, foundation training aims to create a well-rounded equine partner that responds willingly and confidently to cues. This approach not only fosters a harmonious relationship but also sets the stage for successful development in various equestrian disciplines.
We regularly conduct clinics that introduce the benefits of training with obstacles, working equitation, and equitation science, along with classical principles. These clinics are not just about honing your riding skills, they’re a celebration of what an incredible partnership can be created between horse and rider. Our focus on obstacle training goes beyond the arena, instilling confidence in both horse and rider that seamlessly translates to activities outside of the arena. By approaching potential challenges with empathy and understanding, our clinics pave the way for a harmonious connection, making every ride an adventure of trust and joy.
With over two decades in the horse world as a competitor, trainer, coach, judge, and a Diploma of Equitation Science, Aaron has the practical experience and the science-backed knowledge to give you and your horse the best of both worlds.
Aaron also hold's a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment which adds an extra layer to his coaching abilities, ensuring he can guide and assess your progress and adapt his coaching techniques to best suit the individual horse and rider.
We offer in-house or on-site services, so if you'd like to know how we can help you and your individual needs, send us a message.
Working Equitation is a dynamic equestrian discipline that originated in Southern Europe and has gained international popularity. It combines elements of dressage, obstacle negotiation, speed, and cattle-handling skills, reflecting traditional tasks performed by working riders. Participants navigate a series of obstacles, demonstrating precision, agility, and harmony with their horse. The sport promotes the development of a calm, versatile and well-trained equine partner, emphasising the practical application of horsemanship skills.
Equitation science is a discipline that applies scientific principles to the understanding and improvement of horse training and riding techniques. It involves the systematic study of horse behavior, learning theory, and biomechanics to develop evidence-based training methods that prioritize the well-being and communication between horses and riders. By combining empirical research with practical applications, equitation science seeks to enhance the effectiveness and ethicality of horse-human interactions, fostering a more harmonious partnership between riders and their equine companions. Emphasising positive reinforcement, clear communication, and a deep understanding of equine psychology, equitation science promotes a compassionate and informed approach to equestrian activities.
